I am researching minimalistic movie posters for my digital artwork based on a series of romantic movie posters to commemorate Valentine's Day next month. This page will contain minimalistic poster designs already out there created by others and will be annotated and analysed as well as cited. The first movie poster I want to talk about is Titanic.
NOTE: Annotations on this blog are brief as this is just a blog to gather images of already designed movie posters out there. More detailed annotations can be found in my production report.
I am inspired by looking at this movie poster created by Yzabelle Wuthrich:

Figure 1: Titanic by Yzabelle Wuthrich. Minimal Poster
I like the way she did this in terms of appearance, but not so much in colour. I aim to make mine more darker blue tones and have different shades of blue within the heart of the ocean. I will experiment with adding a moon and stars to the sky, which will look really nice and give it a warm loving feeling. The poster above here looks more suited to a graphic novel rather than a loving movie poster of a masterpiece within the last 20 years.
The second poster I am going to create is Sleepless in Seattle, which is part of my Valentine's Day movie poster series. I am going to research other posters out there that are done the minimal way of design to review and talk about in my report.
Here is a collection of a few that I want to briefly talk about and discuss:

Figure 2: Sleepless in Seattle (1993) ~ Minimal Movie Poster by Daniela Manzotti #amusementphile

Figure 3: Sleepless in Seattle Minimalist Movie Print by TheBellaPrintShop,

Figure 3: Sleepless in Seattle
These 3 poster designs of Sleepless in Seattle look really nicely done and the romantic atmosphere behind these is astounding. I like the way that the heart appears in all the building blocks in the posters signifying that it is a romantic love story. I am not pretty much keen though on the second poster as the building pretty much looks like the Empire State Building, and that is in New York, not in Seattle. The name of the movie is Sleepless in Seattle, not in New York, so I must take care in when I am designing the poster so that I do not make the mistake here in my design.
